400 was the largest bore Mopar big block, undeserving of its "boat anchor" tag, which
it got mostly because it was detuned to meet smog regulations. The 400 deck is taller
than a standard Chevy 454, can be stroked
to a decent size at fairly low cost, fits
in places which would be a tight squeeze for
the taller and wider 440.
with gasoline down to $2.55 a gallon...
