I hope for your sake that it is the lift pump. I had the same problem with mine,a much older 1994, and the dealership was right. The problem was 3 of the injector cylinders went bad after 110,000 mile(after warranty, of course) and cost 1,500.00 in labor, and another 1,500.00 in parts. After many appeals to Dodge, Cummins, and Bosch, they fixed it for no charge. Then, about 12,000 miles later it happend again. Apparently they only re-built three cylinders instead of all six. The second time I took it staight to a Cummins shop, and I had to pay for a complete rebuild job (again 1,500.00 and just 1,000.00 in labor). This time I had no choice but to pay. The truck has never let me down since(now 200,000 miles) but what a pain in the !@#$! Good luck!
