Not arguing here, becuase I use my engines so little it probably wouldn't hurt either way, but...

I understand that rather than being designed for leaded fuel, the original design of our flat sixes actually goes back to a point BEFORE lead compounds were used as octane boosters in regular fuel, so under normal use they don't need it.

I alos understand that only the exhaust seats in the ordinary engines are hardened, so under hard use it will be the exhaust valves and the whole intake side that will show any problems.

My Dodge specialist just finished reworking the T72 engine (that's the engineering code - not the tank type...) that came out of my 1939 one ton TD 20, and he fitted inlet valve seats and hardened valves all round, plus modern fuel hoses and a fuel pump with a modern diaphragm material.

Open to correction of course 8~)
