OT..Cherokee vs Liberty question

My son was looking for a small SUV and was considering a Cherokee or a Liberty.
I looked into this a bit and I am wondering if the Liberty has any advantages over the Cherokee.

I get 26 mpg on the highway with my Cherokee (5-speed, 6 cyl) and that looks better than what you could get with a Liberty. The Liberty looks like it weighs hundreds of pounds more and has less interior space.

What's the case for a Liberty??
