Chris, go to madelectrical.com and read about alternators. Alot of people use a single wire system because they don't understand how a 3-wire works. I am installing an alternator on both my 47 COE and 53 flat fender and I am also using a Centech fuse panel. I also am using relays for the headlights so I can use the halogen lamps. That website has alot of good information and supplies to make an electrical system very reliable and powerful.
