Like it is the outer on a a set of duals. That way,the truck acts as a cage. Hard on fenders, but fenders are cheaper than arms. better than nuthin...
They used to make a gismo that was basically a big bolt and an oversize spinner to clamp the parts together. They were in the NAPA catalogue in 1978. My guess is that you would need to leave room for the air to escape, i.e., leave slack in a chain- let it explode, just contain the big pieces. Cages are not a tight fit.
