Muffler is new from VPWs. However, the truck sat out in the rain for three weeks, including the week of hurricane Katrina, while we wer painting the bed. I think water drained down the exhaust pipe into the muffler and rusted it internally. It rattles like crazy. Backfiring didn't happen before this.
