Thanks everyone. I checked my manuals last night. The 1950 manual says use a vacuum gauge, which I have. It also expalins the three settings of the accelerator pump. The Chilton's manual for my 1967 (BBS 3277S carb) says to use a tachometer. Either way, I will make sure it is timed properly first.
