... drinking from the lead pipe. After reading the delphi post it is clear that we have lost the collective will to do for ourselves. we are content to pay others to do things cheaper and faster for us. the sad thing is that those people will get a taste of industry & go to where we once were in terms of production, sacrifice and prosperity. they will not suffer as we do under the 'civilized' rules that we have burdened ouselves with. we can't do much here anymore without some idle soul providing a reason against forward motion. we cant fight a war correctly because we might offend the sensibilites of the folks killing our kids and cutting off their heads with rusty knives. we cant drill for oil where it is currently located because the caribou might get upset. we cant build a refinery because we are handcuffed by nimbism and environmentalism. we wontforce the corn growers to actually grow the corn as we pay them not to grow. We wont take that corn and use it for fuel because we are reluctant to get off fossil fuel for all the wrong reasons. we cant develop wind power because ted kennedy's view might be obstructed in the cape. we are plagued with the likes of chuck schumer in NY who holds a press conference every sunday and pontificates about what should be done. at last check he hasn't done anything that i am aware of besides cram his noggin into any photo op within his reach. we cant produce much without partnering with the epa, dot, osha, eeoc, irs & a myriad of other non productive drains on the creative process. there is no incentive to achieve when someone builds on an idea, starts a company, risks his capital, suffers the pains of running a business that can be shuttered at any time by a bogus lawsuit. add insult to injury when the risk taker has to provide pension and lifetime medical secuirty to his employees when he often cannot assure his family of the same. I'm an american, i'm proud, but i'm bewildered sometimes. it makes me wish it was 1946-7 again and i worked at dodge on the team figuring out how to make use of surplus wc parts now that the war ended early!!! mannyc
