The slant six would have done well with
multiport fuel injection. Port injection helps with fuel distribution - the major technical issue with a single carb inline sixes. The outer cylinders of an inline
usually run leaner. An inline six is inherently smooth, unlike a V6 the inline six never has a "dead" phase where there is no power pulse.

The GM 4.2 liter inline six is rated at 291 hp for 2006. These have variable valve timing on the intake camshaft, may eventually see that on the exhaust too. They're complicated motors. GM gave up on the Quad four, I hope GM continues to refine the 4.2 and its 3.5(five) and 2.8(four) variants.

With Delphi declaring bankruptcy today General Motor vehicles have additional concerns, the entire US auto industry will
be impacted by Delphi declaring Chapter 11.
