You're not likely to ever again see in-line 6 cylinder motors, Detroit has moved on to motors that can pass emmissions and get better fuel economy while reving high.
The venerable Jeep I-6 will disappear this year, it's the last Mopar in-line motor that isn't a diesel. I don't like it but that's the way it is. You may see small in-line diesels but no more gas motors, sadly. I think the I-5 that gm has is the last one and they are having problems with it.
The Mopar MPI fuel system is a good one, the throttle bodied injection systems were not as good. I have heard of no problems with the 3.9, except that it is a V-6, We have the 3.7 in our Liberty, typical V-6, high reving, adequate horsepower, poor torque at low rpm.
