It may be unlikely, but I know, in Mayland at least, that they keep track of how much ag diesel you buy- if it jumps up a lot one year for no good reason and you happen to own a diesel vehicle (if you buy ag diesel they ASK if you also own a diesel car or truck). This is mainly to see if people are trying to beat the state out of road taxes. Also, the ag diesel I buy is died red. I guess #2 is harder to detect because of the dye issue. I do not know if state's track purchases of #2 or not.
