Believe me, I know how hard it is. It's been over 30 years since I got my first white shep, Cocaine the Wonder Dog. Because I had other dogs with him, he was able to pass on certain traits, teach them as it were. Yeah, some of it was genetics, but having him show them things kept those traits going. They do learn from each other.
Don't look at it as a replacement for Taffy, that'll never happen. There's only one Taffy. I really think she'll enjoy the company. Good Luck.
