I have never had a Die Hard last close to the end of the warantee. I am convinced that they want you to keep coming back and buying more and more of them. Sure you do not pay full price but I bet that they are still making money especially if you buy additional items when you replace them. Once I got off Sears rip off system and got good batteries I often see 7 to 13 years of service (event the ones I buy at COSTCO).
