just returned from the Plano, TX DMV to register my new 42 GPW with a Former Military Vehicle registration.

things have changed..

for all who are unfamiliar, TEXAS has a registration class for former military vehicles where as you can use your goverment
assigned hood number as your registration.

Last vehicle I registered in this way, I was given a simple plastic tag, some arbitrary registration number, to keep with my paper registration information in the glove box.

No exterior visible tags, plates or stickers, so the truck always looked just as it had when it came off the assembly line, or when it was in military service.

well, things have changed. I was issued a windsheild sticker that has the registration number (hood number ) and my VIN number on it, with an experation date. A big, colorfull 2" x 4" sticker, much like the state inspection sticker looks like.

It MUST BE put on the windsheild and visible!

argghhhhhh!!!

So much for the nice, military look, eh?
