My dog has always been underfoot. She is always there. I have often found a ring of her toys (often water bottles) around me if I settle down to work in one place for a time. Yes, she is sitting there waiting for me to play.

Recently we were gone for 3 weeks. When I came back she never left my side. Out of frustration, I walked all over the place in a very zig zaged route. She was there every step of the way and I could not get her to go her own way. It was not that we stuck her in a kennel for 3 weeks. She was at home and my daughter came and let her run for a hour each day.

Paul had it right. Unconditional love. I will add unconditional loyality. My wife points out that I am her (the dog's) alpha.

I did buy her a very nice purple collar yesterday to dress her up for hunting season.
