i live in jefferson parish(at least till i sell my house)and can tell you without a doubt that the dynamic trio(blanco, nagin, and broussard) got caught with their pants down. Nagin is a lot better than the previous mayors, but as it turns out he and his police chief over-exagerrated most of the crime at the dome and the convention center.Broussrd thinks he's on survivor, and blanco couldn't get a commitee up in time to find out what her position was.the poor in the city of n.o. are kept down by a piss poor excuse of a school board, most of the politicions like this,its easier to pull the wool over them. It will keep repeating itself over and over. I don't think it would have made a difference who was in office, the problems have plagued LA for years, and it took a gust of wind to bring it out to the world. the crime that happened after the storm was already happening before( at least 7 murders a week in the city of n.o. alone)the storm just opened up the playing field for the criminals.my door was kicked in four nights after the storm(neighbor with a shotgun stopped the break in) at that point there was no food worth eating in my fridge, there were ways to get shelter and a meal by then. if it would have happened the day after, and some one needed shelter or food i would have had no problem with it.I've been wantig to leave the area for several years, and am thankful the media covered it the way they did, accurate or not, because it made my wife want to move as well.we will start looking to move to the outskirts of houston, still have hurricanes,and crooked politicians are every were, but the schools are good, and the roads are smooth.
By the way the area that flooded again wasn't one of the repopulated areas.
