As an engine wears the clearance's get bigger and generally the oil pressure drop's. Higher viscosity oil helps fill those gap's and will increse oil pressure to an extent. The same thing applies to cylinder rings as thicker oil will increase cylinder compression somewhat. Hope this helps a little.
