Hi Arthur,
There is a butterfly valve in the throat, and an internal linkage connected to a spring. I dont see why that stuff couldnt be gutted, making it simply a spacer. Just my unresearched, unofficial, unedumacated guess. NO MANUALS WERE CONSULTED PRIOR TO THE OFFERING OF THIS INFORMATION. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. (I also didnt look in the PIF or the best of the forum section)
