Military ignition wiring.

I was looking at a discussion on the WW2 Dodge Forum where Jack Perry was questioning the ignition wiring setup shown in the early half ton WC manuals - and it is shown wrongly.

On page 108 of T/M 10-1153 it shows the ammeter and ignition wires on one terminal of the ignition switch and the fuel gauge on the other terminal.

Just to be clear - the fuel gauge feed AND the ignition feed wires should be on one terminal of the ignition switch, and the wire in from the ammeter should be on the other.

The reconnaissance wiring diagramme on page 110 is wrong too....

I think I may even know why. The diagrammes for the previous generation of trucks, VC and VF, used THREE terminals on the ignition switch, one each for feed from the ammeter, fuel gauge feed, and ignition coil feed, so when someone re-drew the diagrammes for the 1941 models they just put the coil feed wire to the wrong side of the new two-terminal ignition switch.

The manuals for the 1941-up Canadian-built half ton T212 trucks made for the British are correct because they seem to have kept the three-wire ignition switch, and the US ones were corrected before the 3/4 ton WC maual came out.

Never noticed that before.
