If you live in CA and probably NY and MA you have to register all of your guns. Non registered firearms are illegal in CA. Here the law is retroactive, doesn't matter if the firearm was legal when you first owned it, if you have a firearm on the 'banned' list it is supposed to be turned in or registered. Some states don't care what the 2nd Amendment says. The laws are also county by county here, what is legal to own in one county is illegal to own in the next.
