Please familiarize yourself with the laws relative to firearm transfer, both state and federal before accepting any firearms. Penilties for illegal transfer can ruin your day. That said...
I can tell you that of the many thousands of firarms I've handled, I can at least remember two other firearms that were said to belong to "scarface". I couldn't tell you how many others came in the door with stories of belonging to some other famous character in history. Some very interesting, but none with any documentation.
As sugested, you need to build on the articles provenance by obtaining testimony, records, pictures, anything to support the case that indeed Art was Mr. C's mechanic. (I'm sure he has a few stories to tell.) As far as prints go. I wouldn't bet on it. You can attempt to raise prints through a certified lab, or do it yourself (although I would immagine that it wouldn't stand well). Prints degrade rapidly, but if you obtain a copy of his record, it certainly would be exciting to find a print eaten into the blueing. I can often happen. Get a loupe and take a good look. Don't be disappointed if you can't find anything or compile any evidence. Sometimes buyers work with stories, but at a much deflated market, obviously. Keep a written record. Someday you may find something written someplace about it. At the very least, your familiy will always wonder about the million dollar pistol, so the homework may be worth the while down the road.
