Thanks for the kind words on Taffy... sorry to open old wounds with your "Sparky". Sounds like a wonderful dog. As a kid I always lost dogs to cars... Taffy will actually be my first to go to "natural" causes.
Keeping them in town is harder, but I've been lucky to be able to afford decent sized fenced yards. If you can fence off your yard, and find time for walks, I'd recommend getting another dog. It would never replace your dalmation, but each of them finds a unique place in our hearts... and there are lots of dogs out there who need homes. We rescued Taffy when she was a year or so old.
