i had a partial truck given to me less the motor/trans....the transfer is there and drivetrain is complete from there to axels(huge axels i might add..the shocks are big as my 12 bolt axle tubes) the transfer is divorced and the body is gone as in rotten the front cap is literally gone...the plate on glove box says it is a 1952 m37 and it was owned by the usmc...now heres what i don't understand i see these talked about but every1 calls them 3/4 ton my plate clearly states that what i have is a dodge m-37 but it also says it is a 1 1/4 ton...i can't find reference to it anywhere...i had plans on putting a chevy body on it(blazer, truck, or suburban, what ever wheel base will allow i would like to kow this also ) with a bob truck(grain truck) 366 industrial big block with the granny tranny and a short drive shaft from tranny to transfer...everything on this rig looks like overkill(the driveshafts are as big around as my leg) and i wanted to know what i had such as axles and there ratio ..what transfercase this is..it is a twin stick and what the shift pattern for it is..the sticks are just hanging there and bolted up to the tranny sum how
oh yea 1 other oddity that i know is aftermarket, but i would like to know about how old they are....are they reliable etc.it has lockouts on the front end..the rib you grab and turn reads allstate across it..around the outer edge it reads made by sears and roebuck & co. i almost fell down laughing..i've never heard of sears lockouts.huh?!? what gives why can't i find any mention of a 1 1/4 ton m37 dodge power wagon anywhere else?...the tag looks like it used to give all the trucks dimensions such as wheelbase, width, heighth ,etc. it is wore off, but it is stamped clearly where you can make out it is a 1952 m37 that it was the usmc's at 1 point, and it is 1 1/4 ton and that is it.can any1 provide me any other info like what i asked. other stuff i see..it has a huge 5 lug bolt pattern the front axle has balls sealed to knuckle where you can usually see the u joints in the front axles. it has a utility box with doors in the front bottom of the bed that goes from one side to the other it has metal seats or they may have held foam at sum point..it was a flat head as i found what i believe is the head in the bed along with other small misc. parts like the blackout taillights and such...has any1 ever put a domestic body on 1 of these monsters before and any pointers to offer. this thing looks like it would push trees out of its way if i got that torque monster 366 and the heavy duty granny low trans.. can any1 answer any questions? please, as i can't find a thing about any of it online. not even the lockouts. do i have a rarity item here in the rolling frame or the lockouts? thanks .sorry for such a long post but i am a complete newbie to m37's..i would like to hear from some people who have done body swaps if any1 has done such...surely they have its hard to do anything now adays that some1 else hasn't already done..i want to use it to build me a mini monster truck with some custom leaves and trailing arms some1 help me out..i've been trying to swap it for a late 70's to mid 80's military chevy so it would all just bolt into my blazer the d60 front, 14 bolt ff with 4:56 and a rear gov-lock and a sm465 mated to a np 205..can't find one.... so i'm going to try and build off of this elephant, especially if i can get some disc brakes for it. any help greatly appreciated
