I can't sustain 70 mph with the flathead, but I have attained it for brief periods on long flat roads. I have averaged 60 mph for up to 150 miles. The WC53 does feel relatively stable to me at those speeds. It's far from a modern machine, but it is more stable than many vintage cars I have driven. It is not at all comfortable without ear plugs.
A rough road will sometimes bounce me so hard that the seat cushions come out of place.
