I went into this a few months ago when the chap at the machine shop mislaid my head bolts.

The originals are actually Grade 10 (what ever that spec is, but this is per good authority), and no longer available. In addition, not having the inset holes for mounting accessories can be a pain.

I think VPW is selling Grade 8's for $30 ea. The speciality head bolt mfg (API?) will make them, but I was quoted $300 range for a set (out of my league...).

George Asche scared me up a set but it turns out I didn;t need them, so they may still be available. You could reach him at 814-354-2621.
