I do not know which way the sled is set, but in my experience do not shift as
A: you will lose traction when you increase torque in the middle of the pull.
B: you will lose momentum which on a transfer sled is key, as you need as much wheel, ground speed as possible when the pan of the sled drops

I have no clue about your truck but besides chain reaction, I also pull my 05 Dodge cummins. with that truck I used 2nd (auto) and after i got the sled tight I powerbraked until I built boost in the turbo. I won that pull easily. Another guy pulled smae truck staed in first and never built enough ground speed before the sled drops.

As they say in pulling when the sled drops, the BullSh** stops
