The temperature here in western Illinois yesterday reached 101. Sunday the high was 103. We have not had temperatures above 100 since 1995. Today, leaving work during the hottest part of the day at 2:30 P.M., the temperature was 64 degrees with rain. An incredible drop. To put it in perspective, if it drops that much tonight, it will be below freezing.

The rain is too late for the crops though. Before today's rain we were 12.25 inches below the normal total that we should have for the year to date. We got 1.25 inches today. If we continue to get rainfalls of 2 inches per week, we will be out of the drought by Labor Day. This is the worst drought ever on record for our area. It even broke the records set in the infamous summer of 1936.

Now, maybe I can get out and work on the POWER-WAGONS, or at least use them again.
