Been there got the T shirt. Don't even try to do the whole truck w a 6 hp compressor. It will barely keep up for small parts.

When I did the bulk of my PW sandblasting (bed, fenders, cab, doors, hoor, etc, I rented a 200 scfm scroll type compressor powered by a 4 cylinder gas engine - the kind they use for jackhammers.

The diference was night and day.

Have plenty of media, gloves, respirator and a good hood. If you're usng pricey media, use some tarps to re-use. I used sandblasting sand in a fine grit at 90 psi w a 3/32" ceramic (American) nozzles (changed often) on a Harbor Freight pressure blaster. Sieve the sand first, just for grins; it may be a pain, but nothing compared to unclogging the nozzle.

The moisture sep on the HF unit worked OK for NJ in the summer; no clogs, but you need to let it keep blowing down just a little all the time.

Spend the $100 for the rental and don't look back. See if you can get a deal for over a weekend at a 1 day rate.

Besides, you'll need to have the other compressor for painting primer on just etched metal.
