Sounds pretty tight for one of those!! lol
I would check the following: wheel bearing play, steering knuckle play, tie rod end play,drag link play, end play and side play on the pitman shaft.
If the end play and side play on the pitman shaft is tight, but the play is between the steering wheel and the pitman shaft, the sector gear depth adjustment is out. I suggest getting a shop manual for the truck so the steering box adjustments can be made correctly. Steve
