You can have all your questions answered at the Amsoil website. Cut and paste this link and it will take you to the info on the By-pass system. http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/bf.aspx a comprehensive test http://www.amsoil.com/performancetests/gerlach_trucking/index.aspx
and a Mack truck user

There is always water molecules present at start up and prior to operating temps. And as molecular size increases so does molecular weight. Thus it does in fact come into play with regard to specific gravity. In fact it also comes into play in regard to solubility. The cost is about $200.00 for the kit and filters. Oil analysis is about $22.00 and the oil is about $4.00 / $4.50 a qt. These are dealer rates...retail
is obviuosly higher. Not sure what you consider "normal" oil or filters...after doing a lot of research on this, a cheap filter is better than no filter and there are filters that out perform other filters.
It is your stuff your choice. I know what I know and use what I use. It is that simple.
Oh one other thing ...Oil filters that have a bypass in them, use that by pass spring as a safety in the event the filter clogs. Thus there is no filtering done as the filter is "By-Passed". You can check any filter to see if it has the feature by putting a screw driver or drift in the filter and pushing down. If there is a spring that gives then the filter has a by-pass feature...It is not a By-Pass filter though.
