follow up on my problem. New bearing still fits very tight with new correct bearing. All I can figure is that the spindle is out of round. Maybe a previous wheel bearin failure caused it. I was able to get it back together, buthad to press the outer bearing on to make it happen Was able to thread the nut back on, (although it did not do the threads any good). Hope I don't ever have to remove it again. The other side of the rear end was fine.
