I tried an electric fan and it didn't cool enough. I then put a stock car style fan on which only goes forward about 1/4 inch. It is a high volume fan made of fiber and can be cut to fit with a scissors. I left the electric fan installed but the only time it runs now is after I shut the motor off for a few minutes.
