I am wondering whether Braden rated the first wrap at 6k or the wrap at the half full capacity. Current winch mfgs rate each wrap, with the first being the stated capacity of the winch, even though each successive wrap outward is a substantially lesser rating. For example, the 12,000# Milemarker hydraulic winch has a rated pull (lbs.) of 12,000# 1st layer, 9,400# 2nd layer, 8,200# 3rd layer, and 7,000# on the fourth layer.
