Dodge was bad about carrying things over. The B-1, B-2, B-3 and so on designations meant there was a change in the truck in some way. For instance, I have a '50 3/4 ton truck and it is a B-2-C. Were it a '49, it would be a B-1-C. The "B" series ran from 1948 to 1953. ! was '48-49, 2 was '50 when there were mechanical changes, 3 was '51-52 and 4 was '53. In 1954 they went with the "C" designation. If it was an early '53 model, it could still have the earlier designation. The same way a '56 model could be either 6 or 12 volt electrics.

My '52 for instance is a B-3-PW. The third part of this type of series designation is the weight rating. B for 1/2 ton, C for 3/4 ton, and D for regular 1 tons trucks. The Power Wagons got PW in the third section. The 126 is the wheel base.
