The other guys are right. You can easily tow with a 1/2 ton as they have as much motor as a 3/4 ton, But,,,, just get that trailer swaying once on a downhill, and you'll instantaneously wish your wallet was bigger than your eyes suddenly got.
My brother had a small rented Bobcat, 2500 lbs on a 4 wheel car hauling trailer that weighed about 1500 lbs hooked on a oops,, 1/2 ton chevy(no capitalization), good tires, shocks, etc., down a grade on the freeway at about 50-55 mph. You shoulda seen the serpentine skid marks he left. After he got off the freeway I think he went directly to K Mart to buy new undies!
