Washing soda is sodium carbonate, which comes in 2 standard forms, both will work here - sodium carbonate monohydrate and sodium carbonate sesquihydrate (also called sesqui sodium carbonate).

Sodium carbonate is also called soda ash. The raw material for soda ash production is a natural salt mixture called trona or natrona. Trona consists of a mixture of sodium carbonate (washing soda or soda ash) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). The natural deposits of trona near Green River, Wyoming are the largest in the world and several underground mines there produce over 10 million tons of refined soda ash per year.

I worked in the soda ash industry for about 20 years, so ask any questions you have.
