Washing soda is not to be mistaken with baking soda!

A real easy way to find washing soda is to go to your local pool supply store and ask for sodium carbonate (AKA PH+).

I have been using this methode for several years and it really works great. The beauty is that it will act to free-up stuck parts; I have derusted and unstuck a wise that could not even be taken appart for cleaning. It even strips paint off wheel rims!

For this methode to be effective, you need to pay attention to polarity of your leads(you do not want you good part to be your sacrificial anode!) and to clean the anode when the production of bubbles decreases or stops. I use old lawn mower blades for small derusting jobs. I have seen people use some graphite plates that cleanned themselves up but unless you can get these from surplus the cost is prohibitive.

Also, you need to use a manual battery charger as the automatic's electronic circuitry will be fooled by your makeshift battery (derusting soupe).
