My CJ7 has a mostly stock 401. It ran hot at low speeds during the Summer. I made a simple fan shroud - now it never gets past middle on the temp guage.
Without a shroud, you'd need to keep the fan close to the radiator for it to draw air through. If you build a shroud, do not extend it beyond the fan blades. Also, the clutch fan hub takes care of water crossing worries - it slips rather than allow the fan to eat the radiator. M37's shrouds are cheap and avail. NOS. They likely could easily be added to your PW.
