Never said the WC53 didn't have clam shell doors, the pictures represent the transition from civilian to military. As for doors see my other post about the 4". The VD21 was shown because it was a civilian panel with the same sheetmetal side stampings, and for fender genesis in the transistion to the 1/2 ton Carryall fenders.
As for the VC-6, it shares the same sheet metal stamping as the 39 Panel and the WC53, it was shown to illustrate the transition from panel windowless side stamping to the addition of the side windows. It's a simple transition, no matter the wheelbase or the running gear, or the fenders, same basic stampings and tooling, modified as Dodge always did to develope different variants. They did the same thing, with minor changes, starting with the '39 pick-up, all the way to the WM300, COE cabs, etc. You're getting too literal in your old age....= )
