Forget rearching. Either find a set of NOS like I did or have a new set made. I have a set of NOS front springs under a V8 and there is no problem at all. They carry the weight just fine. I also have a stock set of rear springs and the truck runs just fine after I replace all bushingings, shocks, tie rod ends and all steering joint/bushings.

With a V8 make sure that you put in disk brakes. The original drums will fade real badly when stopping from 60 MPH. I also put in a dual master cylinder brake master cylinder. It is a must with the V8. My wife and I went to meet Marty last night to pick up a new headliner for my PW. Comming out of an entrance ramp onto the freeway I hit it a little too hard. I looked at my wife and said 75 MPH might be a little much in a 60 MPH zone. She smiled. What I am saying is that with 4.89 gears and a V8 you will be able to go quite fast. I mean you will be able to do 80+MPH and you need to have the brakes to handle 60+MPH speeds which the drums will not do well. I know because I did not have the disks on at first and did a test stop from 75 and right then knew I needed better brakes. Sorry for running on but this is my other hot button beside having the appropriate equipment for towing.
