I would suggest a forum search.
The bottom line I got from a thread a few years ago, and used with my springs, was that re-arching alone does not "hold" on "tired" springs. You must combine re-arching and an additional leaf. That is what I did for my front, where the springs were tired, and I was adding a winch.
Also, I heard two other important bits of information. ONe, the stock arch in front is 5 1/4", and that if springs are "good" or correct the shackle will be vertical when the truck is sitting still and with a normal load.
