He put an adapter plate between the 318 and flathead bellhousing. It required a flywheel spacer the same width as the adapter (5/8" I believe) and an extended pilot bearing (moved the pilot bearing location 5/8" towards the crank) - I think a Mopar universal pilot bearing could be used instead of a custom bushing. His pictures make it seem that 2 of the flathead bellhousing bolts just about align with the 318 2 top BH mounting bolts, which aligns the crank with the trans input shaft. He sent me pictures - the adapter makes the install simple. I am suprised noone has gone into production making these adapter plates. Post on the M37 forum from the link on the top of this forum and ask him about his swap. I likely will to make up an adapter myself and see how it goes.
