Let me first say that I come from the side of the tracks where you have to WORK for your money,..blue collar all the way. I value my Family first not the almighty dollar.

having said that, this afternoon I just had the extreme displeasure of having a talk with our school's "AutoBody" instructor. After I asked if he would be able to throw my Model "A" frame onto the frame jig they have there and check it out to see if it needs any tweaking etc. he grufly said that he couldn't be bothered and they were busy. Of course this was only the start to things.

After he inquired as to waht I had in mind I explained to him the idea I had talked out with the Auto Tech teacher a few months ago. Mind you the auto tech teacher who is leaving just blatently "kicks ass!" as an instructor! Its just that simple! Well, long story short, I got chewed out by this jackass auto body instructor because he "doesn't have time for stuff like that," and "he's not interested in the idea of having the kids build a rat rod car,.." or as he called it, "somekind of redneck hotrod thing,.." He also went on to criticize the autotech instructor who is leaving because he is getting bumped from his position. This after he blatently went out of his way to " back him up" at a schoolboard meeting that was recently held dealing with the fact that the auto tech instructor who is being bumped should NOT be bumped because of what he has done with the class to turn it around! Can we say, overeducated, snake in the grass, two-faced blowhard!!!??

basically he went on to insult the idea I had of having the welding, machining, autobody and auto tech instructors work together on such a project, and then acted like I had an alterior motive when I said I would own the car that would be built because it would take out some of the red tape that would come about if the school was to own it and besides i had wanted to build something anyway??

So here I am, the lowly substitute teacher getting paid peanuts, and I am the guy looking out for the kids,...trying to make school interesting for the kids, while the high paid teachers and "fellow collegues" whine, bitch and moan. Anyone else seeing any problems here???

Sooo, the alternative is to STILL build this sucker, talk to a few of the kids who showed an interest and have them stop by and lend a hand with it as any of them live in my town anyway and I've been able to meet some of their parents also. In addition, in the very least my good friend who happens to be the welding instructor at the votec actually IS willing to do something with me on this project.

So, keep yer fingers crossed! Stay tuned! LOL

Jason
