I'm sorry. My discussion of the front end problems was under the "HITCH" heading. The design of the front axle assembly is outside the scope of my knowledge. I have renamed that section.
I was addressing the weight transfer issue as a contributing factor. As owners kept increasing the weight they were actually pulling - often higher than the truck specs allowed - Dodge increased the towing capacities, mostly for marketing purposes.
Dodge was aware of the front end problems since warranty repairs cost them and anything that costs gets attention. It appears that they have made necessary design improvements since the number of complaints about the front ends seems to be less for the newer trucks, even though their capacity ratings have increased.
