Had a spare moment and figured what the heck might as well see why this leadwork looks like it is failing. After melting the lead, a lot of lead I found the culpret. The body man left some of that blue colour on the metal before he tinned the surface. Well after about 60 years that blue colour turned to rust and delaminated the lead.
I took out about 2 maybe 3 pounds of the stuff. The body man tried to pull out some of the dent but made more work and a bigger mess in the process. This sucker looks down right nasty. I will drill out some of the inner panel and try and fix up some of the mess tomorrow.
Gotta remember to take in my coveralls , face mask and gloves.
