About 25 years back i new of a guy who got up in the morning and found out that someone had swiped the door off his 56 pickup . So he buys another one but it is about 1&1/2 inches too big. So they borrow a second door and it is too big too .
I got called in to give them a hand cutting down the door. We never did figure out what on earth was wrong with the cab. It sure looked stock. And i found no welds or seams when I looked under the head liner.
I have a stalled project truck sitting in my wood shed. A 56 ford bigwindow. Both my spare doors fit the cab. I think the cab alone is made up of 4 trucks - roof off one window frame off another, back of cab a third and the floor and fire wall are off a super rare 56 diesel ford. All he parts fit.
So who ever swiped that door swiped one that was too small for most cabs.
