Boy Will I sure would figure on just pulling that engine and doing a complete tear down if it was mine. There is a lot of burnt crud in the block, I hope you were kidding when you said it is not as dirty as you would think it should be? It looks like you have a lot of miles with out many oil changes on the engine in my opinion. I have seen a few like that but they have been engines not running, lots of miles and not much TLC in there lifetime. Mark H.
