I dont know what Boyce uses to convert the GMC M-series trucks to stick, but I have heard of lots of folks who use 5 speeds out of WWII GMC CCKW trucks. They say the trannies are OD, so that'd be a plus. The 270 GMC Six takes the same bellhousing as the GMC 302 six that is in your truck, so thats a huge bonus as well. I been told its a very straight forward conversion. As for Hydramatics, I have also been told that the early 50's Oldsmobile 4 speed Hydra-Matics are the closest relative to the 8 speed ones used in the GMC.
I used to have one of the M-series GMC 6X6 trucks, I was happy the day I got it, and was even happier the day it left about 2 months later.....Good luck!
