sorry for the oT post, but their are many Cummins owners here....
I bought a new lift pump as a precaution to my 116K mile 98 2500 24V. It is being shipped to me, have not installed it yet.
I also bought a fuel pressure gauge that I installed last evening. I figured the truck was not going to start right away because of opening a fitting, and replacement with the gauge unit.
I cranked on it, could not get it to start easily, and removed the fitting from the tranfer (lift) pump at the filter housing.
When the key is in the on position, you can hear the lift pump running mometarily. I could not see any fuel coming from the lift pump to the fitting, and figure the pump must be in fact DOA....
Anyone know for sure? I will try the test again when the new pump arrives.
Forced to drive my GTO to work, tough.
